Entering the Rabbit Hole-------November 12th 2017
Talk about performance anxiety! We just want to revolutionize the entire way we do high school starting at Year 9.
So it begins.....
Why? Because teachers know this education paradigm is %$#@!!!!. We can not keep doing the same thing and expect to see the change we want. It is past time to change.
What: 21st Century Fluencies from GDC web. After i stumbled across Lee Watanabe Crockett's BEYOND STEM presentation to teachers at a 2017 Perth conference, I knew we had a winner.
When: November 6th we launched the BIG 3 PD with a fun collaboration we three English leaders introduced
(1) Growth Mindset,
(2) Collaboration and
(3) Mindful assessment practice shifts to our English department.
Utilizing Wednesdays periods 1&2 to build teacher capacity for 5 weeks.

My specific challenge :Learning Blogs will be my modus operandi for Year 9 English class

- teach (collaboratively & MLE) and
- assess (mindful self and peer rather than teacher driven) so that all students can achieve success as they are and be measured by their learning progress, rather than against their peers. The GDC 21st Century learning fluencies will undergird and scaffold this change.
